Our unit is a 42-bed Medical Surgical nursing unit that provides care to a wide range of medical, surgical and pediatric patients may of whom have multisystem disease. Our staff uses a team nursing approach comprised of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nurse Aides to care for patients with diabetes, and pneumonia. We provide inpatient chemotherapy to our oncology patients. For some patients, care is designed to be curative while for others care is palliative. For all patients the goal is to maximize each patient’s quality of life.

This nursing unit also provides care to postoperative gynecological, general surgical, urological, and orthopedic patients. The development and implementation of clinical pathways for our orthopedic patients has maximized collaboration between members of the care team, resulting in high quality care. We use Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) therapy for our postoperative patients. This allows the patient to control his or her own pain medication administration to maximize their comfort level.

Our Pediatric patients are a combination of medical and surgical patients. We offer rooming in for our parents and the option of security camera monitoring for added safety. Rooming in alleviates the stress of hospitalization for both the child and the parents.
