Funds to support patients with Breast Cancer

Malone, NY  – On October 13th, the Malone American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 219 hosted a “Ladies Night Out” breast cancer support fundraiser. The event, hosted at American Legion Post 219, featured a buffet, music, dancing, and breast cancer awareness giveaways. Nearly $4,000 was raised through a chance auction with 45 items donated by various local vendors and community members, a raffle of a lottery ticket breast cancer ribbon, a raffle of a donated casino package, a 50/50 raffle, and a Paint Your Pinkie Pink station run by the Junior Auxiliary members. The funds raised were donated to a fund at the Reddy Cancer Center at UVM Health Network – Alice Hyde Medical Center that supports breast cancer patients and the Gouverneur Breast Cancer Fund, which is now supporting breast cancer patients in Franklin County.

“I would like to thank the Malone American Legion Post 219 for allowing us to host this event, as well as the committee of women who worked to make this event possible,” said Gail LaFlesh, Ladies Auxiliary member. “We also want to thank everyone that donated to this event, and we look forward to your support for this event again next October.”

“The ladies from the Legion Auxiliary have an unbelievable spirit, and are wonderful people with kind and generous hearts,” said Chantelle Marshall, Director of Philanthropy at UVM Health Network – Alice Hyde Medical Center. “We are so pleased to accept this gift to help our local breast cancer patients. Our patients have a variety of needs that this donation will support, from assistance with travel for treatment to help with the purchase of wigs.”

Donations can be made to the Reddy Cancer Center at any time. The Center’s general fund supports the purchase of new technology and equipment. The Kalpana Reddy Patient Care Fund supports the financial needs of general cancer patients, and this new Breast Cancer Patient Fund supports the needs of our breast cancer patients.
